phenobarbital drug - Sports Zone
I would like to know the similarity, and differences between the two. I know very little about Phenobarbital but know a fair amount about benzo's. I want to know the pro's and con's of each different drug.
Understanding the Context
Any input would be appreciated, Thank you BL in advance. Phenobarbital has a very, very long half life (53-118 hours according to Wikipedia). Not only does this long half life making daily dosing tricky but it also means the potential for drug interactions even days after your last phenobarbital dose exist. Mixing alcohol with barbiturates is very dangerous, do not do it.

Phenobarbital is the best barb for anxiety, for me at least. Does pretty much the same thing as amobarbital for me but without the hangover. Amobarbital hangover is a bitch, but phenobarbital hangover - there is none. Active ingredient phenobarbital 1 1/2 grains. It works.

I feel like I've got an IV of hard liquor and I can concentrate to the extent that I can work. The long duration of action is a plus for me; it's what I imagined librium would do, if benzos got along with me. The pheno seems to be just like alcohol, but better! Phenobarbital, is not that euphoric... they use it at the local detox place for people in opiate withdrawal. There are much more euphoric and pleasurable barbituates, secobarbital for example is pretty nice but very hard to get ahold of these days The most common ones around today are Butalbital (Fioricet, Fiorinal), Phenobarbital (Luminal).
Historically the most abused were/are Pentobarbital (Nembutal), Secobarbital (Seconal), Amobarbital (Amytal), etc. They were all but replaced by the Benzodiazepines. Barbiturates have a track record of death. The dose response curve is steep.
