what is the length of volleyball court - Sports Zone
Are any of you guys aware of the 500 S&W Magnum being significantly shortened and utilized in any platforms? I thought that the 500 S&W being shortened to the same case length as a .44 Magnum - 1.285 inches (32.6 mm) - would be handy to have in a 5 shot revolver ala Super Redhawk Alaska or a... There was a day when the routine advice with 1911s was not to drop down less than 4" or so on barrel length for the sake of reliability.
Understanding the Context
The compact 3" barrel 1911s with shortened grips for the sake of carry, also known as the Officer 1911 models, were supposed to be iffy on reliability as well as being ammo fussy. Beware. That is what I am thinking as a Wild build... cut down to just barely legal length and the original stock modified to make it similar to a Charger.

I bought the Mossberg Shockwave ($390 out the door). It is a 12 gauge "weapon", not a shotgun or a pistol, according to the BATFE. It does not require any special tags, fees or other Federal BS. The barrel is 14" and the overall length is just over 26 inches. It holds 5+1.

I showed it to the... The length is ok but the head space is too large so I have to take it down some more. So I will be busy pulling bullets dumping what little powder there is in the K-mode. I can use the brass and bullets and the brass. Yet another leason learned, I will be sure to tell the The Bore House just how good their ammo worked for me. If I have to full length resize or run a case through the body sizer, I use the messy ol' lube pad with RCBS lube.
Messy but effective. I put everything in the tumbler after deprime and size, so mess really doesn't bother me and all that oil's good for my ancient old hide. I, personally, will toss my rifle brass the second time they need trimming.
